Problem Statement

As a design department, if we do not stay up to date on our design system, then the processes that keep us running smoothly start to deteriorate.

As a design team, we need to keep utilizing the current system while challenging our thinking with our day-to-day work, so the system doesn’t become stale

Challenge our current thinking

  • As we are designing with our current system I challenge our thinking. We do not need to simply play with the legos that we have when there are other sets and styles we could be utilizing.

Looking toward the future

Looking toward the future

What we have we know will not be useful long term.

What we have we know will not be useful long term.

  • As we are working towards better experiences for our employees and customers we know what we have is not going to suffice in five years.

  • We are currently working towards developing a new design system that will be utilized across a new system for our employees to keep up with current business demands.

  • Best Buy as a company has flatted a lot of roles within the retail organization structure and our technology has not kept up.

  • We are developing this new system and working behind the scenes to get business buy-in toward our new approach. But we are not waiting for permission before working towards what we know will be needed.
